I'd like to express great thanks to Mayor Slay, Macy's, and all the rest who contributed to tonight's tree lighting event at the plaza. Your high excitement for downtown was invigorating.
It was cold and rainy, but there was indeed a warm feeling in the crowd. I saw what it meant to live only blocks away - it gave me another reason to say, "Downtown is Great!" As a child in Wisconsin, I recall watching the New York Macy's Day festivities on television, and thought they were spectacular. I now have the honor of saying that I live in an area where much of the same types of events take place...it seems almost magical. If you weren't there, you missed something wonderful -- adults and kids alike seemed so happy!
Thanks to all who continue to support downtown. And, Macy's, bringing back those window displays after 30 years is much appreciated.
